Abstract
Dextrin glues which dissolve in water without forming lumps are obtained by mixing dextrin in pulverulent form with a small quantity of a polyhydric alcohol of less than 8 carbon atoms, e.g. of the formula CnH( + 2)OHn, where n lies between 1 and 8. A mixture of such alcohols may be used, and it is preferred to heat the mixture of dextrin and alcohol to 80 DEG C. for a short time. The alcohol used may be glycol. To the reaction mixture may be added organic or inorganic substances of acid, neutral or alkaline reaction, in particular metal salts of boric, carbonic, phosphoric, tartaric, citric, and like acids.
