Abstract
440,002. Knitting. HEMPHILL CO., Central Falls, Rhode Island, U.S.A. Nov. 8, 1934, No. 32171. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1933. [Class 74 (ii)] In a multi-feed knitting-machine wherein the yarn is fed at rates governed by the stitch length at the several feeds means are provided for indicating the relative stitch lengths. As shown, at each feed the yarn 7 is fed by conical intergeared rollers 5, 6 and passes through a fixed eye 35 and eyes 34, 37 mounted on a counterbalanced disc 30 which also carries a pointer 44 moving over a scale 27. Should the yarn tension increase the eye 37 and pointer 44 are pulled down and the eye 34 guides the yarn to larger parts of the rollers 5, 6 thus causing more yarn to be fed. One roller 5 is mounted in a bell-crank lever 10 and the inter. meshing of the rollers 5, 6 may be adjusted by means of a rod 15 and an eccentric 22 to vary the basic feeding rate.
