438,758. Rubberized fabrics. McKAY, R. F., Fort Dunlop, Birmingham.-(International Latex Processes, Ltd. ; 10, Lefebvre Street, St. Peter's Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands) Jan. 5, 1935, No. 388. Drawings to Specification. [Class 140] Rubber-fabric material for pneumatic tyres, hose &c. is made by applying to a fabric base a coating of an aqueous rubber dispersion, applying thereafter a skim-coating of rubber of a less alkaline character and vulcanizing. The fabric base may be woven fabric or cord fabric with or without filling threads and may receive a preliminary impregnation of rubber from a dispersion or cement. The first coating is applied by passing the fabric through an alkaline dispersion, e.g. one containing soap, sodium hydroxide or polysulphide, or tri-sodium phosphate. The skimcoating may be neutral, acidic or even alkaline and is applied by calendering on a rubber dispersion or cement. Plies of the coated fabric may be united by the vulcanizing step and if desired one surface only of each ply may be skim coated. Specification 178,811, [Class 140], is referred to.
