Abstract
438,324. Applying bottle caps. KING, G. E., 23, North Cross Road, East Dulwich, London. April 18, 1935, No. 12058. [Class 125 (ii)] A capping-tool for bottles &c. comprises a bell-like outer member 1, a pressure head 6 for the bottle mouth, mounted for axial movement within the member 1, a spring 9 supporting the pressure member, and radially movable arcuate members 10 which engage the inner wall of the member 1, and compress a rubber ring 13 against the bottle neck when the member 1 moves downwardly thereon. The arcuate members 10 have peripheral skirts which engage the ring 13, and inclined surfaces which co-operate with the member 1. The ring 13 has an internal rib which engages in a groove in the bottle neck.
