Abstract
A composite tyre cover built up from two partly defective covers is vulcanized in a closed mould at a temperature of 200 to 260 DEG F. and a pressure of 200 to 300 pounds per square inch. These temperatures and pressures are stated to be respectively less than and greater than those normally used for the original vulcanization; and, by extending the time to three to six hours, it is stated that any desired re-tread pattern may be formed. The change of treadform is preferably accomplished slowly and, for this purpose, a comparatively low pressure is used until the proper temperature is set up.
