Cells.-Receptacles such as battery boxes, moulded from india rubber mixes, are vulcanized under such conditions that a predetermined temperature gradient is maintained through the thickness of the article whereby part of the article is vulcanized hard, leaving the remainder soft and resilient. Thus, heat may be applied to the interior of the article, while the exterior is cooled by exposure to the air, water jackets, air or water currents &c.
