Abstract
435,975. Felt hats. PUYMBROECK, J. VAN, 54, Rue Murillo, Brussels. March 5, 1935, No. 6923. [Class 63] A method of manufacturing felt hats containing non-secreted fibres, e.g. wool, and secreted fibres i.e. fibres such as rabbit's hair which do not normally possess a felting capacity or only in deficient degree but which acquire a felting capacity after suitable chemical treatment, consists in oiling the material by means of a product containing mucilaginous substance, forming a lap from the material by means of a carding machine, winding the lap upon a forming cone and fulling in an acid bath. The oiling material may be a substance containing a decoction of malvaceous plants e.g. mallow roots, or a mixture of malvaceous plants with plants of the order of the composital e.g. tussilage or coltsfoot.
