Abstract
435,938. Coke ovens. BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A., and COLCLOUGH, T. P., Brook House, Walbrook, London. March 29, 1934, No. 9926. [Class 51 (ii)] In a coke oven heated by parallel floor flues, adjacent ones of which are fired from opposite ends. the waste gas flues leading to the exhaust main are arranged between flues supplying air for combustion. As shown, the combustion flue a is fired by the burner a<5> and the products are exhausted to the main d through the waste gas flue a<1>. Air for combustion enters a flue at the lefthand side, which is at the same level as and parallel to the flue a<3>, flows in series through the flues a<3>, a', and enters the combustion flue through the ports a<6>, the flue a<4> being thus situated between the waste gas flues a<1> of the adjacent combustion flues, which are fired from the right-hand side. In another form, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the waste gas flue makes three superposed passes before connecting to the main d, and the three passes of the air flue are also superposed. In a further form, Figs. 8-10 (not shown), the waste gas flue makes two superposed passes the full length of the combustion flue before entering a waste gas main at one side of the oven. The air enters at the burner side and makes two similar passes before delivery to the combustion flue.
