435,922. Sewing-machines. HUGHES, R. M., 72, Cannon Street, London.-(International Button Hole Sewing Machine Co. ; 502, Harrison Avenue, Boston, U.S.A.) May 27, 1935, No. 15413. [Class 112] The under-threac and stay cord pull of in a button hole sewing-machine of the turret type is operated by a cam part on the main cam which con trols the operations o the machine. The work-clamps, stitch forming mechanism and slit cutter are the same as usual in turre machines. The pull off arm 28 for the under-thread 12 an( stay cord is pivoted on an extension 29 of the stud 16. The arm 28 is retained in position by a spring 31. The thread and cord are pulled by a hook extension 34 of the arm 28. The pull-off is normally retained in retracted position by a spring 36, one end of which is anchored to the arm 28 and the other to the turret. A stop finger 38 engaging the turret 8 limits its retracting movement. The pull-off movement is imparted to the arm 28 by a cam 40 on the main cam 41 via a follower 47, a lever 43 on a shaft 45, a plunger 50, a finger 52 and an arm 53 on the hub 30 of the arm 28. An adjustment may be made between the lever 43 and plunger 50 to vary the amount of thread pulled off.
