[Class 40 (v)] In a transformer-coupled intermediate-frequency amplifier comprising two or more stages with transformers I, II having adjustable couplings, with the tightest coupling, one transformer is over-critically coupled and slightly damped, the other being critically coupled and strongly damped; with loosest coupling, the first transformer is critically coupled, the second being less than critically coupled. By " critical coupling is meant that at which the resonance curve just does not begin to sag.
