Abstract

Textile fibres are oiled by treatment with an aqueous emulsion comprising a mineral or neutral oil, oleic acid and a body of the general formula, R-X-R<1>-SO3-Me or R-O-SO3-Me wherein X stands for <FORM:0431073/IV/1> or <FORM:0431073/IV/2> , R stands for an aliphatic radical with at least 7 carbon atoms. R<1> and R<11> stand for aliphatic or aromatic radicals, substituted or not, and Me stands for an alkali metal or ammonium. Examples of such substances are the alkali salts of oleylhydroxyethane sulphonic acid, of oleylphenyl-taurine, of oleylmethyl-taurine, of the ester from stearic acid and phenolsulphonic acid, of the ether from n-dodecyl alcohol and hydroxyethane sulphonic acid, of the sulphuric acid ester from stearyl alcohol, of the sulphuric acid ester of dodecyl-alcohol, of the sulphuric acid ester of oleyl-alcohol. Olive oil and earthnut oil are examples of neutral oils. Alkalis, alkalisalts, fats, solvents, oils may be added to the mixture.
