Abstract

Hydrocarbon lubricating oils are improved by the addition of 0,1--0,25 per cent by weight of a saturated fatty acid having at least 16 carbon atoms. Stearic, arachidic, and cerotic acids are specified. For example 0,1 per cent of cerotic acid or 0,2 per cent of stearic acid is added to a mineral lubricating oil. Specifications 130,377, [Class 91], and 320,614, [Class 106 (ii)], are referred to.
