425,696. Valve amplifying circuits. DICKER, S. G. S., 20, Holborn, London.- (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken; Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland) Sept. 23, 1933, Nos. 26294 and 27908. [Class 40 (v)] In a push-pull amplifier the working point on the characteristic is moved towards cut-off as the load increases so that each valve of the amplifier on weak signals amplifies both half waves of the signal but on strong signals each valve amplifies only the positive half waves. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the change is effected by variation of bias produced by the anode current across resistance R. In a modification the change is effected by decrease of anode voltage due to a high impedance source, Fig. 3, (not shown). Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which both the grid bias and anode voltage are changed. A choke S is provided in the filter for the rectified anode source and is stated to counteract in part the drop in anode voltage due to the ohmic resistance of the supply. The choke S is so designed that the core is near saturation for the average value of the direct current load. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 408,269.
