Abstract
423,646. Regulating consistency of paper pulp. VOITH, W., VOITH, H., and VOITH, H., (trading as VOITH, J. M.), Heidenheim-on-Brenz, Wurtemberg, Germany. May 22, 1934, No. 15345. Convention date, May 20, 1933. [Class 96] The fibre content of pulp for paper-manufacture is regulated by a float C &c. controlling a dilution-water slide valve E, a metering device, e.g. a bucket-wheel B, which gives a constant flow of diluted pulp, being located between the water-supply point and an outlet a<4>. Movement of the float actuates contacts d<1>, d<2> of a reversible motor D controlling the valve E, the water being mixed with the pulp by a paddle F. The outlet a<4>, the speed of the bucket-wheel B, and the contacts d<1>, d<2> are adjustable. The wheel B has holes b<2> for air, adjacent the hub, allowing regular flow of pulp from the compartments of the wheel B. Hydraulic or pneumatic means may replace the electrical means for actuating the valve E, with pneumatic means, a feeler may replace the float C.
