Abstract
421,335. Ball bearings. WILLIAMS, W. T., Benson Works, Foundry Lane, Birming- ham. June 14, 1933, No. 16959. [Class 12 (i)] A haulage cable pulley or roller has a bearing including a body part, carrying an adjustable bearing member. As shown, a bracket a, Fig. 2, can be clamped by bolts e, to the upper end of an existing bracket d. The haulage pulley has a conical spindle m carried in a bearing k in the bracket a, the bearing k being adjusted by a screw o bearing upon a washer n. The latter may be omitted. In a modification, the washer n is replaced by a plate. In another modification, the bearing is adjusted by finger pressure applied to a sleeve s, Fig. 6, slidable in the bracket a. The sleeve s is locked in adjusted position by a screw u, or by a cottar pin, or by clamping it in position if the bracket is slotted. The bracket a may be screwed to a wooden block 10 as shown in Fig. 15. In this modification the bearing is mounted in the haulage pulley and is supported by the coned end of a pin 6 adjustably screwed to the bracket a.
