Abstract

<PICT:0419074/III/1> A coating-machine, of the kind wherein articles are dipped into and withdrawn from the coating material by the operation of screw and nut mechanism, is provided with automatically acting reversing gear. Articles A are coated by raising and lowering tanks 5 of coating material, by means of a screw 4 engaging a nut 9 in the casing 8. The nut 9 is rotated in one direction or the other by the motor 18 operating through the shafts 17 and 14. When the tanks 5 have been sufficiently raised, trip gear 20, 22, 21 actuates the lever 27<a>, rod 28 and double clutch 19, thereby causing a reversal of the direction of motion and lowering the tanks. The speed of withdrawal of the articles is preferably made less than that of their immersion, by suitably proportioning the pulleys 15 and 16. According to the Provisional Specification the reversal of the direction of motion may be effected by hand.
