Abstract
418,791. Motor-car bonnet fastenings. AUCHTERLOUNIE, A., 2, Wellington Place, Leith, Edinburgh. Feb. 21, 1934, No. 5683. [Class 44.] A motor-car bonnet or like fastening is locked by means of a detachable metal cover which fits over it and is secured to it by a keylock. Fig. 1 shows a fastening of the type comprising a spring-pressed hook 11 slidable in a cylindrical housing 9 on the bonnet 10 and engaging a keeper on the chassis ; a cover having a part 4 to fit on the handle 7 and a part 6 to fit the housing 9 is secured to the handle by a padlock 12 embracing the handle shank 8 and a part 5 of the cover, thereby preventing rotation or depression of the handle. Fig. 4 shows a fastening of the type in which an apertured member 15 co-operating with a grooved pin 20 on the bonnet 10 is attached to a cylindrical member 16 in which operates a spring-controlled rod 17 pivoted at its lower end to a rubber buffer 19 which is pivoted to a bracket 18 on the chassis ; a cover 23 engages at 24 below the lower end of the rod 17 and at 21<a> over the member or handle 15, being secured thereto by a padlock 26, to prevent upward movement of the handle 15.
