Abstract
233,770. Weymann, C. T., and Weymann's Motor Body, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1924. Latches, sliding; striking-plates and staples for locks and latches; stud and socket fastenings.- In a motor-car door fastening of the type in which a taper-ended bolt 13 on a bracket 12 on the door post 11 is secured in a socket 15 on a bracket 14 on the door 10 by a spring-pressed locking-pin 16 which engages in a hole 19 in the bolt 13, the pin 16 is withdrawn from one side of the door by turning a handle 22 on a spindle 20 rotatable in bearings on the bracket 14 and plate 21, and having secured on its inner end a cam 23 adapted to engage a pin 27 on a lever 25 pivoted at 26 on the bracket 14, the lever 25 engaging with a shoulder 29 on the pin 16. Rotation of the cam 23 in one direction may be prevented by a pin 32 on the bracket 14 engaging the shoulder 31 whilst the cam can be locked against rotation in the other direction, when desired, by a pin 33 which is in screw-threaded engagement with the plate 21 and can be screwed in to project above the surface of the bracket 14 into engagement with the shoulder 34. The lever 25 may be extended and provided with a handle 30.
