Abstract

418,420. Funnels. GOLLNER, R., 46, Adolf Hitlerstrasse, Burg, near Magdeburg, Germany. April 27, 1934, No. 12741. Convention date, April 29, 1933. [Class 26.] A device compris. ing two opposed fans or rotors 1 and 3 foi obtaining a uniform draught in funnels is provided, in addition to the main support. ing bearings 5, 6 and 8 above the upper fan with another bearing 9 adjacent the lower fan and supported from the wall of the funnel and supplied with lubricant from a common supply pipe 13 at the top of the upper bearings. through a central bore 14 in the shaft 2 of the lower fan. The upper fan is mounted on a hollow shaft 4 resting in bearings 5 and 6 and surrounding the shaft 2 which rests in the upper bearing 8 and lower bearing 9, the latter being supported from the funnel walls by rods 10. A protective tube 12 is provided to prevent the spreading of oil. When used for the funnels of locomotives and the like, the cross section of the upper end of the exhaust steam pipe is reduced in order to increase the velocity of flow and therefore the speed of the fans the latter giving a more uniform draught and preventing the emission of sparks.
