Abstract
403,045. Fan installations for furnaces. SCHMIDT'SCHE HEISSDAMPF GES., 2, Rolandstrasse, Wilhelmsh÷he, Cassel, Germany. July 28, 1933, No. 21231. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1932. [Class 51 (i).] In a forced and induced draught fan installation for furnaces comprising a centrifugal air supply fan 5 and a screw flue gas fan 10, the two fans are driven from the same motor. As shown in Fig. 2, the fan 5 is mounted directly on the end of the shaft 6 of the motor 4, while bevel gearing 14 transmits the drive to the shaft 13 of the fan 10. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the fans are driven from the shaft 16 of a steam turbine 15 through bevel gearing 17, 18, 19, the latter being so arranged that both fans run at a different speed from that of the shaft 16, with the blower 5 preferably running at the lower speed.
