Abstract
414,669. Regulating air supply to furnace grates. SCHENK, O., and SEYBOTH - FEUERUNG GES., Bautzen, Saxony, Germany. Feb. 7, 1933, No. 3787. [Class 51 (i).] In a furnace grate divided longitudinally and transversely into movable sections, the speed of which may be varied to vary the feed of fuel the space beneath the grate sections is divided by longitudinal and transverse partitions so that each grate section may be supplied with a variable amount of air. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the grate sections 1, 11 and 1<11> are actuated by adjustable levers 50, connected to the grate sections by rods 60, 60<1>, 60<11>, the sections 1, 1<1> being mounted on roller bearings. Longitudinal and transverse partitions 4, 5, 8 divide the ashpit into compartments, each of which is supplied with air through louvred openings 7. The grate sections may be arranged so as to feed the fuel transversely of the furnace. An oil pressure motor may be employed to operate the grate sections.
