Abstract

411,724. Directive signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Peterson, H. O. ; Riverhead, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) Sept. 19, 1933, No. 25911. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] To produce an horizontally-polarized field of substantially-uniform intensity in that plane, a number of horizontal half-wave radiators are arranged at equal angles about a common vertical axis, and are fed from a common source through feed-lines of different lengths designed to supply symmetrically-dephased currents. In Fig. 1 two horizontal half-wave doublets 1, 2 are fed from a high-frequency source 7 through a feed-line 6 and branches 8, 9 of different lengths to produce a 90‹ phasedifference. Connection to the radiators is made at points which balance the respective impedances. In Fig. 4 two similar aerial systems 1, 2 and 1<1>, 2<1> are arranged one above the other at a distance of half a wave length. Corresponding radiators in each unit are fed cophasially by an interconnecting feed-line one wavelength long.
