Abstract
Fertilizing salts, e.g. those containing ammonium nitrate such as ammonium sulphate nitrate, are prevented from caking by intimately mixing them with a dilute solution of a salt of trivalent iron or trivalent chromium, e.g. ferric nitrate, ferric chloride or chromium nitrate, in quantity such as to form around the grains of the fertilizing salt hydrosol coatings that later become transformed into gel coatings. The solution may be sprayed on to the salts. The amount of iron or chromium added to the fertilizing salts may be about .05 per cent.ALSO:Fertilizing-salts, e.g. ammonium sulphate nitrate, are prevented from caking by intimately mixing them with a dilute solution of a salt of trivalent iron or trivalent chromium, e.g. ferric nitrate, ferric chloride or chromium nitrate, in quantity such as to form around the grains of the fertilizing salt hydrosol coatings that later become transformed into gel coatings. The solution may be sprayed on to the salts. The amount of iron or chromium added to the fertilizing-salts may be about .05 per cent.
