Abstract
407,904. Sharpening razors. ARMSTRONG, L. A., Chetwynd Cottage, Ditton Park Road, Slough, Buckinghamshire. July 20, 1933, No. 35387. Divided on 407,813. [Group XIV]. [Class 60.] Apparatus for sharpening the blades of safety razors of the type in which the blade is oscillated for sharpening by reciprocation of the razor over a rigid strop, comprises a strop 1, which may be contained in a casing A adapted to hold the razor when not in use, having radiused ends and, near its ends, on one side, upstanding stops 3. The blade 9 is carried in a holder 8 the spindle 4 of which is geared to a roller 5, and the razor is reciprocated along the strop until it reaches the stops 3, when, upon reversal of the direction of movement, the blade swings over and engages the radiused end of the strop along a line spaced back from the blade edge, thus preventing violent contact of the edge with the strop. A clip in the hinged top of the casing retains the razor when not in use.
