Abstract
Crystallized derivatives of germinal gland hormones are prepared by forming addition compounds of the hormones with quinoline. Pure hormones may be obtained by decomposing the compounds with dilute acids. According to an example follicle hormone of the formula C18H22O2 is heated with an equal weight of quinoline and the crystal paste which forms on cooling is pressed out on porous tile. The molecular compound may be recrystallized from ether or pure alcohol. An ether solution may be extracted with dilute hydrochloric acid to remove the quinoline leaving the pure hormone in solution.ALSO:Crystallized derivatives of germinal gland hormones are prepared by combining the hormones with quinoline. Pure hormones may be obtained by decomposing the compounds with dilute acids. According to an example follicle hormone of the formula C18H22O2 is heated with an equal weight of quinoline. On cooling the whole solidifies to a crystal paste which is pressed out on porous tile. The molecular compound can be recrystallized from ether or pure alcohol. An ether solution of the compound may be extracted with dilute hydrochloric acid to remove the quinoline leaving the pure hormone in solution.
