Abstract

401,386. Lifting-jacks. VENNER, D. J. V., Eversure Works, Kingston Road, Small Heath, Birmingham. June 1, 1932, No. 15496. [Class 78 (iii).] An hydraulic jack of the doublelift type with two concentric rams is provided with two pump plungers 10, 11 of different diameters, the larger being used for the first stage of the lift and the smaller for the second stage. The plungers are side by side and are operated by the same lever which is pivoted on a spindle 13 and is movable laterally to bring its short arm 22 into engagement with a recess 12 in either plunger. This movement is effected by turning the handle on its own axis within the sleeve part 95 so that a toothed part 16 engages with rack teeth on the spindle 13 and moves the handle bodily to right or left. A pin 18 in the handle snaps into a notch 29 in the sleeve part 15 when the handle is in the central position and disengaged from both plungers, and the handle is then in position to engage a rod 24 for opening a valve 25 for lowering.
