Abstract
928,940. Hydraulic jacks. SKYHI Ltd. April 13, 1960 [April 14, 1959], No. 12560/59. Class 78 (3). To facilitate movement of an hydraulic jack to a position beneath a load to be lifted, the handle 1 is locked in the position shown by the engagement of an abutment 25 with extensions 17 of the jack body and 18 of a pumping member 2, the abutment being secured to a lever 15 carrying a pin 13 which retains the handle in a socket in the member 2, and which frees the handle when the lever is pivoted to the chain line position where a notch 16 is aligned with the socket wall of the member 2. During operation of the pump piston 11, the handle oscillates the member 2 about a square section member 4 which engages a square section recess 3 in member 2. Fluid is released from the jack cylinder (not shown) by rotating member 4 by means of the handle 1 thereby allowing valve 7 to open. In a modification (not shown) the pin 13 may be slidable into and out of a locking position for the handle.
