Abstract
396,531. Cardboard boxes, HUNT, R., Paper Box & Printing Works, Theydon Road, Clapton, London. June 9, 1932, No. 16325. [Class 18.] A rigid box of cardboard or like material comprises a top part T and a bottom part B both of tray form, the top having one or more depending tongues 4 which are cut from its end or side walls and have extensions 5 so that the lengths of the tongues exceeds the depth of the bottom part, and the tongues enter slots 9 in the ends or sides of the bottom near the base thereof, and lie against the inner face of the said base. The side walls 2 of the tray like members are strengthened and held in position by strips 7 of paper, linen or like material pasted completely round the walls and bridging the gaps formed by cutting out the tongues 4. The gaps may be left unbridged, only the corners being strengthened by paper or like strips. Only one end or side may have a tongue and slot, the opposite parts of the top and bottom being integral and acting in a hinge-like manner.
