Abstract
1,004,354. Stackable boxes. HUGH STEVENSON & SONS Ltd. May 1, 1962 [May 24, 1961], No. 18741/61. Heading B8P. A box, which may be of double-backed corrugated paper, single thickness cardboard or fibreboard, is folded from the blank shown in Fig. 1 to form a box having two opposed walls of at least double thickness forming a ridge which facilitates stacking of a superposed tray, ventilation means are also provided. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the end walls are of three thicknesses of material 6, 7 and 10 and have two extra thicknesses at the ends due to the gussets 14. A portion 16 enables one box to be stacked on another and upstanding side and end walls prevent lateral movement of the superimposed box. Cutaway portions 22 provide ventilation. The base 1 may have ventilation or drainage holes therein. Hand holes may be cut in the end walls 6, 7. Alternatively, the side walls may be of multiple thickness and the end walls of single thickness. Tabs 9, 11 engage slots 12 so that the box is held erect without the use of adhesive, staples or stitching. The material of the box may be waxed.
