Abstract
395,358. Rotary furnaces. COLAS PRODUCTS, Ltd., TERRY, A. G., and BRIGGS, L., Colas House, Buckingham Gate, London. Jan. 11, 1932, No. 818. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] Baffles.-In a rotary furnace, particularly for drying stone, gravel, coal, &c., in which the flames and hot gases from a burner 2 traverse an inner tube 5 before coming into contact with the charge material, curved baffles 11, Fig. 2, are disposed in the waste gas outlet to prevent a concentration of draught through the furnace. The draught is induced either by a chimney stack or by a fan 4, as shown. The tube 5 is fitted with a firebrick lining 6 and is attached to the furnace casing 1 by links 7 which permit free expansion. Lifters 10 extend throughout the length of the furnace and carry a shield ring 9 which prevents passage of the charge material into the tube 5.
