Abstract

394,795. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.- (Assignees of Knight, D. B. ; 209, Lincoln Place, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) May 5, 1932, No. 12912. Convention date, May 5, 1931. [Class 29.] Absorption machines and systems.-The vapour evolved from the generator of a continuously-acting machine is rectified by heatexchange firstly with strong liquor passing from the absorber to the generator and then with condensate. In a machine of the inert gas type, the vapour bubbles through the strong liquor in the vessel 28 connected to the heat exchanger 15 and flows through the pipe 21, the upper end of which is cooled by condensate in an enclosing vessel 29, to the condenser 11. The strong liquor is pumped through a riser pipe 17 into the upper part of the generator, and the refrigerant and absorbent liquid, e.g. ammonia and water respectively, are selected so that the strong liquor rises to the surface of the liquid in the vessel 28.
