Abstract

283,474. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Lenning. A.). Jan. 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption machines for.-A generator 1, more particularly for a continuouscycle system containing a pressure - equalizing inert gas, is divided by a partition 26 into a main upper chamber 31 and an auxiliary lower chamber 16, which communicate through n riser pipe 22 located partly outside the generator. This pipe is open at both ends and is also provided with a small hole 23 just above the normal liquid level in the chamber 16. The strong liquor flows from the absorber 13 through a pipe 15 to the top of the chamber 16, and the weak liquor from the bottom of the chamber 31 through an exchanger 7 and pipe 14 to the absorber. The heat is applied at the bottom of a central flue 8 in the generator, and the action may be such that a capillary film of liquid is alternately formed and broken over the hole 23, so that gas bubbles readily find their way with liquid info the pipe 22 to produce an effective lifting action ir the pipe. Several small holes at the same level, or holes at different levels and of a size increasing downwards, as shown in Fig. 2, may be provided. The other parts of the apparatus shown consist of a gilled pipe 2 leading to the condenser 3, and a tubular heat exchanger 4, as described in Specification 290,207, between the absorber 6 and the evaporator 5.
