Abstract

388,215. Lenses. LEE, H. W. and KAPELLA, Ltd., 104, Stoughton Street, Leicester. Feb. 27, 1932, No. 5880. [Class 97 (i).] In a lens of Br³cke type, comprising an achromatic collective member A and an achromatic dispersive member B separated from the member A by a distance greater than the focal length of the latter, the member A has three collective components a, b, c, of which at least two are compound, and the member B comprises a bi-convex collective component e and a dispersive component d separated from the component e by an air space having the shape of a dispersive lens. The contact surfaces of the compound components of the member A are dispersive and are concave towards the member B. The separations of the components a, b, c do not exceed the axial thickness of any of the components. Numerical data are given for the example shown, having a focal length of about #", aperture f/4, and a flat field of 40‹.
