384,419. Cutting food &c. ZIMMERMANN. W., 9K, Allbauweg, Essen, Germany. Nov. 16, 1931. No. 31676. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1930. [Class 5 (i).] A machine for cutting food or other materials into cubes comprises a hollow cylinder 3 keyed to but slidable axially upon a shaft 2 rotated by hand or power and mounted in a casing 1, the periphery of the cylinder 3 carrying two sets 8, 9 of cutting knives, each set comprising parallel knives radial to the cylinder, the said sets acting successively on the material to be cut when the cylinder is rotated, one set making cuts at an angle to those made by the other set, another knife 10 being tangentially mounted upon the cylinder and having a cutting edge arranged to cut axially of the shaft, the goods falling therefrom in cubes into the interior of the machine. The casing 1 is formed in two parts hinged at 5 and secured together in the closed position at 6, and is provided with a hopper 7. A pin 12 on the casing coacts with a groove 11 in the periphery of the cylinder 3 to impart the required axial movement to the cylinder when rotated by the handle 4. The knives of the sets 8, 9 are relatively adjustable.
