Abstract

1,206,923. Comminuting apparatus. WISSENSCHAFTLICH-TECHNISCHES ZENTRUM AUTOMOBILBAU HOHENSTEINERNSTTHAL. 18 Jan., 1969, No. 3051/69. Heading B2A. Apparatus for comminuting plastics, e.g. p.t.f.e. comprises a cylindrical housing 7 with a replaceable sieve 14 in a portion of the circumference and cutting blades 1..5 arranged along and attached to a drive shaft 9 which is coaxial with the housing. Each blade has an aerofoil-shaped end portion 8 close to the inner wall of the housing. The blades may be displaceable on the shaft or the shaft itself may be axially displaceable, as by a lever 10. The cutting edge of each knife is slanted back towards the inner wall of the housing so that the edges effect a progressive cut and accelerate the particles within the housing. The housing 9 is surrounded by a cooling jacket 6.
