Abstract
381,720. R÷ntgen-ray tubes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Oct. 9, 1931, No. 28096. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1930. [Class 39 (i).] In tubes with a metal coating 6 on the glass wall 1 about the electrodes 2, 3 or with a central metal cylinder forming an integral part of the wall, the coating or cylinder being insulated for equal high tensions from the two electrodes, a metal screen 4 connected to the cathode 3 and extending over the whole length of the discharge path is so shaped that the coating 6 has equal capacities with respect to the screen 4 and the anode body. A screen 5 mav be connected to the anode 2 and the capacities of the coating 6 with respect to the screens 4, 5 are then made equal. The potential drop between the electrodes is equally divided across the two equal capacities and charging of the wall by the discharge is prevented by the screens so that the coating 6 takes up a mid-potential. The screens 4, 5 are of the same diameter and the window 7 in the screen 4 may be closed by a thin plate.
