Abstract

482,813. Discharge apparatus. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 15, 1937, No. 34763. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In a gas- or vapour-filled discharge device of the type having an anode and control electrode with parallel flat faces the communication between the space between these electrodes and the space outside them is narrow and tortuous, while neither of the electrodes overlaps the other, so that radiation of heat is unobstructed. In the arrangement shown the control electrode 4 is formed as a perforated graphite disc, the thickness of which is at least 1/10 of its diameter, having on its surface a ring 10 entering a groove 11 in the anode 3. The electrode is carried on a metal screen 7 enclosing the cathode 2.
