Abstract
156,664. Schr÷ter, F. Sept. 1, 1919, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-A discharge tube for use as a coupling between high and low potential mains is arranged so that a definite fall in potential is produced in the tube by means of one or more grids or screens 3 interposed between an anode 1 and a cathode 2, and screening substantially the whole surface of the cathode. The grid may be insulated from the other electrodes, or connected with one electrode through a resistance. The fall of potential in the tube is stated. to depend on the position, cross-section, and penetrability of the grid. The cathode may consist of a plate of iron or nickel, or a film containing an alkali metal. The tube may contain helium.
