[Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii).] In twisting yarn or thread on machines having a number of decks, a preliminary twist is imparted to yarn withdrawn from a bobbin rotating at constant speed and wound on a bobbin 1 rotating at constant speed in row a, and a final twist is imparted by mounting the bobbin 1 on a spindle 2 rotating at constant speed and winding on to a bobbin 3 in row b, the variations of twist in the two stages due to the increase in diameter of the winding-bobbins neutralizing each other and ensuring a regular resultant twist.
