Abstract
379,506. Vacuum cleaners. AKTIESELSKABET FISKER & NIELSEN and FISKER, P. A., 30, Peter Bangsvej, Copenhagen. Aug. 28, 1931, No. 24247. [Class 8 (i).] In a vacuum cleaner wherein the axes of the motor and fan are vertical the motor 4 is resiliently suspended from the top of the casing 3 and connected in airtight manner thereto at 29. Bolts 5 secured to the motor are resiliently supported on a ring 9 comprising discs 11, 12 enclosing a layer 13 of felt &c. secured to the casing by bolts 10. The latter may be insulated from the ring by spring washers 15 and may carry springs 14 to support the ring 9. The lower end 28 of the motor may be secured to the casing through an elastic packing ring 29 or may be free to slide vertically, packing rings being employed between the motor and casing to prevent escape of air from the filter chamber 1 into the casing 3. One form of joint shown in Fig. 5 comprises an elastic ring 38 secured to the motor part 28 and held in contact with the casing 3 by the air pressure therein. Alternatively a packing ring may be fixed to the motor or casing and adapted to slide in contact with the casing or motor on its outer or inner periphery. The filter. 2 is supported in or on a packing member 40 between the casing 3 and chamber 1. The casing 3 may be covered with a sound-damping material. A set of fixed guide blades may be supported behind the last set of movable blades 25 of the fan.
