Abstract
378,207. Gilled tubes for heat exchangers. MATHER, C., 534A, Chester Road, Old Trafford, Manchester. Aug. 14, 1931, No. 22937. [Class 64 (iii).] A heat exchange unit comprises circular tubes mounted between semicircular depressions in upstanding ridges of complementary sets of corrugated gills, the tubes being arranged transversely to the gills. Corrugated gills 11 are indented at 13, transversely to the corrugations, to receive the tubes 14, the projecting parts of the gills being in contact as at 13a. The unit is dipped in solder so as to form a composite apparatus. In a modification, the tubes 14 are formed by soldering together two corrugated plates 17 along their respective crests.
