Abstract

376,968. Door &c. fastenings. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and SANSOME, R. D., Widney Works, Bagot Street, Birmingham. July 31, 1931, No. 21842. [Class 44.] A latch bolt 1 is held by a spring-pressed plunger 16 in a partly withdrawn position until a slam bolt 9 is pressed back by engagement with a striking plate to allow the plunger 16 to enter a recess 12 in the slam bolt and to withdraw from a recess 18 in the latch bolt. When the bolt 1 is withdrawn bv a latch-follower 3 and the door opened, the slam bolt 9 is shot by a spring 10 and a cam surface 13 forces the plunger 16 down to engage the recess 18 in the latch bolt. The bolt 1 is provided at its rear end with guide pins 7 which slide through an abutment 8 and support pairs of springs 5, 6.
