Abstract

373,325. Cigarette-making machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN FABRIK J. C. MœLLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. March 20, 1931, No. 8623. Convention date, May 5, 1930. [Class 130.] Plugs cut from a strand st are inserted in ends of cigarette wrappers cut by knives 3, 4 from a strip 1. The plug, after severance by knives 10, enters one of the chambers 9 carried by a rotating spider 8. A rod 12 ejects it into a spoon 7 to which the wrapper has been applied from its rest in transverse grooves in the conveyer chains 5. Further movement of the rod 12 replaces the plugged wrapper on the conveyer, this operation being ensured by a projection 15 on the rod which traverses a slot 71, 9<1> in the spoon and chamber. The wrapper is then carried on into alignment with a rod 17 which moves it on to a filling spoon 21. The tobacco rod fills the tube and is severed by a knife 25. A finger 26 on the end of the lever 27 pivoted to the rod 17 is allowed to fall by cam 29, and as the rod recedes the finger 26 withdraws the completed cigarette on to the conveyer 5.
