Abstract

373,271. Teeth-cleaning appliances. RUETZ, K., 40, Seefeldstrasse, Zurich, and RUETZ, J., 1, Bahnhofstrasse, Biel, both in Switzerland. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5551. Convention date, May 12, 1930. [Class 131.] A toothbrush is provided with a short toothpick 3 displaceably mounted on the stock and between the bristles. A lever 2 pivoted at 4 carries the toothpick 3 which may be of celluloid. The short arm of the lever is operated by a resilient thumb-piece 6 whereby the toothpick is pressed between the gaps of the teeth and retracted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), in which a pick 3<2> is loosely held amongst the bristles by a gut string 8 until a knob 9 is pressed. The pick is then slightly retracted against a spring 11 into a recess 10 in the brush stock whereby the pick becomes rigid for use. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
