Abstract
369,293. Twisting-apparatus for imparting more than one twist per revolution. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, and POOL, W., of British Celanese, Spondon, near Derby. Dec. 24, 1930, No. 38864. [Class 120 (ii).] In a twisting-device of the kind wherein yarn is drawn into a loop from a package and is rotated therearound, an annular race 21 is provided on the package support 6 and is engaged by one friction wheel 18 of a pair on a pin 20 rotating with the driven spindle 9, the other friction wheel 19 engaging with another race 22. If the wheels 18, 19 are of the same diameter and the race 22 is maintained stationary, the package holder is maintained stationary and two twists are imparted to the yarn for each revolution; variation in the degree of twist may be effected by varying the sizes of the friction wheels and races or by rotating the race 22. The friction wheels are freely mounted on the pin 20, or the pin is freely mounted so that contact of the wheels and races is ensured by the action of centrifugal force. The races are enclosed by a flange 24 of an enlarged part of the spindle which also carries a guard 27 to prevent licking and to prevent the fouling of the yarn with lubricant. A guide disc 30 for the yarn is mounted on ball bearings on a tube 32 secured by springs 33 in the bore of the bobbin, or may be fixed on the tube 32.
