Abstract

424,278. Twisting apparatus for imparting two twists per revolution. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, and POOL, W., c/o British Celanese, Ltd., Spondon, near Derby. Aug. 18, 1933, No. 23075. Addition to 369,293. [Class 120 (ii)] The twisting-device described in the parent Specification is provided with friction rollers 19 recessed at each end to accommodate bearing balls 22 and carried in grooves 23 in a member 13 carried by the rotating spindle 8 so that, in operation, they move outwardly under centrifugal force and engage a fixed annular race 17 and an annular race 18 carried by the package carrier 7 whereby the package is maintained stationary. As shown, the yarn 25 passes over a brass cap 26 on the top of a bobbin, through an eye 27 on the end of a spiral spring, and over a disc 29 and through the bore of the bobbin and out by a radial passage 15. The disc 29 is carried by a tube 30 plugged into the bobbin and extending through the bore to another tube 31 carried by the spindle 8. The friction rollers may be of hardened metal and any number may be employed ; in general two arranged at diametrically opposed points are sufficient.
