Abstract
Azo dyes are made by combining a diazo compound of an aryl or aralkylether of o-aminophenol, or of a substitution product thereof with a 1-acidyl-or aroylamino-8-naphthol disulphonic acid. In an example, diazotized o-aminophenyl-o-tolyether is coupled with N-chloracetyl H acid; the product dyes wool and silk a clear red-blue fast to light and fulling. Other coupling components mentioned are the N-acetyl, benzoyl, monochlor- and dichlorbenzoyl derivatives of H and K acids respectively. Specification 337,577, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.
