Abstract

The invention comprises azo dyestuffs of the general formula <FORM:0727045/IV (c)/1> (wherein R represents the radical of a diazo or tetrazo compound of the benzene series containing at least one sulphonic or carboxylic acid group, and n is 1 or 2), and the manufacture thereof by coupling a diazo or tetrazo compound of the benzene series, containing at least one sulphonic or carboxylic acid group, with 2 - cyanamino - 4 - hydroxy - 6 - aminopyrimidine. The products dye wool, cotton, regenerated cellulose fibres and paper yellow tints. In examples, the following tetrazo and diazo components are used: (1) 3 : 31-diaminodiphenylurea - 4 : 41 - disulphonic acid; (2) 1 - aminobenzene-2-carboxylic-4- or 5-sulphonic acid.
