Abstract

541,073. Azo dyes. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). April 9. 1940, No. 6387. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] is prepared by diazotizing metanilic acid and coupling in acid solution with 1-napthylamine- 6-sulphonic acid, diazotizing the product, coupling in acid solution with 2-ethoxy-1- naphthylamine-6-sulphonic acid, diazotizing the product, and coupling in alkaline solution with 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid. The dye of formulais prepared by diazotizing 1 mol. of 1-amino-8- naphthol-3:6-disulphonic acid and coupling- in acid solution with 1 mol. of naphthylamine, again diazotizing and coupling in alkaline solution with 1 mol. of 1-amino-8-naphthol-3:6- disulphonic acid.
