Abstract

352,072. Securing rails to railway sleepers. UNITED STEEL COS., Ltd., 17, Westbourne Road, Sheffield, and MASON, B. G., 1, Dalston Road, Workington, Cumberland. April 4, 1930, No. 10787. [Class 104 (ii).] The rail 3 is secured to a metal plate 2 welded to the sleeper 1 and formed with lugs 4 on which the rail clips 5 are seated and secured by bolts, the heads 6 of which bear on the underfaces of the lugs. The clips 5 have projections 9 fitting between the lugs 4 and the rail flanges, and by making these of different widths, the rail gauge may be adjusted. Abutments 11 may be pressed up from the sleeper to engage the plate 2 and resist shearing stresses.
